That concludes the proceedings for this damp day. On Tuesday, 25th October, Australia will be in action - trying to bounce back after their humiliating loss. They will meet Sri Lanka in Perth at 4.30 pm IST (11 am GMT). Do join us in advance for all the coverage. Cheers!

Earlier, this match was reduced to 9-overs-per-side after all the delay at the beginning and then in the second innings, the target was readjusted to 64 runs off 7 overs but even that was not possible. South Africa were off to the best possible start. Quinton de Kock went all guns blazing as South Africa cruised to 40-0 after two overs. With rain interrupting the game again, the target was revised. South Africa were just 13 runs away from victory but more rain ensured that no more play was possible. Zimbabwe will be feeling lucky to get a point from this encounter as otherwise, the way they bowled, South Africa were en route to demolish the target.

THE MATCH IS CALLED OFF! Points shared. The umpires tried their best but you cannot fight nature. The correct decision is made and both teams get a point each. We were very lucky up until this point in the tournament to get plenty of action against the forecast but that's not the case anymore.

Update 5.37 pm IST (12.07 pm GMT) - It's pelting down now and the umpires have decided to take the players off the field. They have 8 minutes to return to the field, otherwise, the points will be shared. South Africa will be very disappointed, their luck with rain continues to haunt them, especially in the ICC events.

Review! Zimbabwe have taken a review for an LBW decision against Quinton de Kock.

Sikandar Raza comes into the attack now. We can also see that Richard Ngarava is leaving the field, limping off. It seems to be a hamstring injury.

We are back! The rain has stopped and we are ready to continue. The revised target is 64 runs and South Africa will have 7 overs to chase it down.

Update 5.13 pm IST (11.43 am GMT) - It is pouring down now and the umpires have given instructions to leave the field. South Africa are in a good position to win the game, but if they don't return to the field in the next few minutes, consider this game to end without any result.

Richard Ngarava to bowl from the other end.

We are back for the chase! The players are out to the middle now. Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma are the two openers for South Africa. Tendai Chatara to start with the ball for Zimbabwe. Here we go...

... THE CHASE ...

South Africa will back themselves to chase this total while Zimbabwe will need to create early inroads to stay in the game till the end. Chase coming up shortly, stay tuned…

Lungi Ngidi comes up for a flash interview. The pace bowler shares that it's too wet and it was hard to grip the ball. Mentions that there is a bit of a skidding bounce now and it should be pretty good for batting now. Feels that they should chase it down easily.

South Africa were right on the money since the start. They realized very early that the back-of-length deliveries are the way to go on this wicket and kept troubling the Zimbabwean batters with that length. Lungi Ngidi starred with the ball for the Proteas but he was a shade expensive. Wayne Parnell impressed while Kagiso Rabada was rusty.

With the game reduced to nine overs due to rain, Zimbabwe were in a tricky situation having opted to bat first. In their quest to start hitting from the word go, they never got going. Wesley Madhevere and Milton Shumba’s stand propelled Zimbabwe to a total that didn’t look possible at 19-4.

So, Zimbabwe end up with 79 on the board at the end of their nine overs. Temba Bavuma will be pretty happy with his side’s bowling effort at the halfway mark. However, he will hope that the late flourish by Zimbabwe does not come back to haunt them.
